TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — Authorities are investigating a deadly crash that took the life of a motorcyclist Wednesday night in Tarpon Springs.
The Tarpon Springs Police Department responded to a call of a motorcycle crash around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of East Tarpon Avenue and U.S. 19.
Officials say the motorcyclist crashed into the side of a Chevrolet pickup truck while trying to turn into a Walmart parking lot. The rider, who police say was not wearing a helmet, was take to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was treated at an area hospital. No names have been released at this time.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, but they say it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were involved.
