A 33-year-old Pinellas Park mom is accused of trying to pick her children up from school while high on cocaine, police say.

Jeannette Vasquez, who police say also uses the alias Jeannette Ruiz, is now charged with child abuse and driving under the influence.

Back on June 2 around 2:45 p.m., police say Vasquez was extremely intoxicated and picked up a little girl from an elementary school and attempted to drive away before being stopped by concerned school employees.

School officials became so concerned they called police and were able to keep Vasquez from driving away.

Police say Vasquez showed numerous signs of impairment and had to be taken to the hospital.

Vasquez was not able to perform field sobriety tests, police explained.

According to an arrest affidavit, a blood sample from Vasquez tested positive for cocaine, hydromorphone, benzoylecgonin and methlyecgonin.
