PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — An off-duty Pinellas County detention deputy was fired for DUI following a two-vehicle crash in St. Petersburg.

Kimberly Peck, 53, was reportedly driving under the influence at about 4:22 p.m. on Monday. She was traveling NB on 71st St. when she tried to turn onto 54th Ave. N.

Investigators say Peck failed to successfully negotiate the right turn and swung too wide, striking another vehicle facing westbound at the intersection.

Peck and the driver of the other vehicle were both taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say she showed obvious indicators of impairment and it was determined she was over the legal limit at the time of the crash.

She was fired Tuesday, consistent with the Sheriff's Office policy. FHP's criminal DUI investigation is still open.

Peck was hired by PCSO in 2002 and worked as a detention deputy assigned to the Pinellas County jail.
