The 66-year-old pedestrian, Stephen McGill, was standing in the roadway when he was struck by the right front bumper of the car.

Investigators said the intersection has very poor lighting and trees and surroundings also obstruct the visibility of the roadway.

McGill was transported to St. Petersburg General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Deputies say it is unknown why he was standing in the middle of the roadway.

Investigators do not believe speed of impairment were factors in the crash.

This is an ongoing investigation.
