A motorcyclist is dead after failing to yield to a fire truck early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Both the 48-year-old man and fire truck were riding along 66th Street in Lealman approaching the intersection of 54th Avenue North.
The fire truck was headed to a separate vehicle crash on 66th Way North when the motorcyclist tried to speed up and overtake the fire truck at the intersection.
The fire truck, turning onto 54th Avenue North, clipped the motorcyclist, causing him to sustain fatal injuries.
FHP is still investigating.
