Clearwater Police charged a man with second-degree murder after a fatal stabbing on Thursday night.
Police said the suspect, Aurelian Frumosu, 41, is also charged with armed burglary. He's accused of stabbing and killing Scott Christy, 61.
According to a press release, officers responded to the 1200 block of Pineview Avenue around 7:20 p.m.
Police said Christy lived at the home, which was owned by Frumosu's mother, who died last year.
The home is currently in probate, and there is civil litigation between the Christy family and the children of the owner, according to police.
Thursday night, police said Frumosu went to the backyard of the home and damaged an exterior air conditioning unit. Authorities said he kicked it and hit it with a brick.
Christy heard the noise, and when he went outside to see what it was, police said Frumosu went inside the house through an open door.
In the home, the two struggled and Christy was stabbed. He later died at the hospital.
