ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A family pet died in a fire at a home in St. Petersburg Thursday morning.
Fire rescue crews arrived to the scene on 17th St. N. and found a single story residential home with smoke and fire coming from the carport area of the home.
One person was inside the house at the time of the fire and was able to get out safely. However, the family pet did not survive the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no firefighters were injured putting out the fire.
