Driver wanted in deadly Pinellas County hit-and-run

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run that happened in Pinellas County early Friday morning.

Troopers say a 58-year-old man in a motorized scooter was crossing Ulmerton Road in a marked crosswalk against the do not cross signal when entered the path of the vehicle and was hit. It happened just after 12:30 a.m.

According to a crash report, the vehicle was traveling westbound on Ulmerton approaching 34th Street North. The driver left the scene after the impact. Troopers say the vehicle is described as a 2012 Honda Civic EX or EX-L.
