The search continues for a man believed to have hit and killed a St. Petersburg man with his Chrysler 300.
Jeron Davis, 30, was walking near Martin Luther King Jr. Street and 22nd Avenue South around 1:30 p.m. Monday when the incident happened.
The police department contacted their homicide unit to look into the case because detectives believe this was more than a hit-and-run. They are investigating witness statements that claim this was deliberate and not an accident.
The suspect hit the victim, drove through a gate at Walgreens, and then abandoned his car after it got stuck.
"You can run and everything, but God sees everything," Morgan Sky said.
Sky dated Davis the past three years. They lived together.
"He's going to live forever through us. Whoever did this, you know who you are and you'll get what you deserve," Sky said.
His family and friends hope the suspect will turn himself in to police.
"Somebody running and leaving is a coward," said Connie Campbell, a family friend.
