Clearwater Police arrest man wanted for murder in Philadelphia

Clearwater Police officers arrested a murder suspect wanted in connection with a shooting case in Philadelphia on Sunday.

Officers were alerted by the police communications center of a license tag reader hit that involved a vehicle owned by the suspect, Scott Gonzalez.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Clearwater Beach and initiate a traffic stop. Gonzalez's girlfriend was reportedly driving the car, and two minor children were also in the vehicle, police say.

Gonzalez provided a false name, date of birth and Social Security number, but officers were able to discover his true identity. He was arrested on the murder warrant out of Pennsylvania and taken to the Pinellas County Jail.

He also was charged with providing a false name or identity to law enforcement.

Details about the murder he is accused with in Pennsylvania are unknown at this time.
