ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A bicyclist was killed in a crash early Sunday morning, police said.
St. Pete police said at 1:39 a.m., a 2014 Toyota was turning from 2nd Street onto 1st Ave. North on a green light.
A bicyclist, 37-year-old Chad Bennett, was traveling east on 1st Ave. North in the south curb lane.
Police said Bennett was traveling the wrong way on a one-way, had no lights on his bicycle and collided with the Toyota in the middle of the intersection.
Bennett was taken to Bayfront Health and was later pronounced dead.
This is an ongoing investigation.
