Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office are investigating an attempted murder-suicide.
Investigators responded to a home in the 2500 block of Richards Road just after 10 a.m. Friday.
They discovered a man dead and a woman with life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she later passed away in the evening.
Investigators said next of kin has been notified and that the couple was married.
Records show the husband was 92, his wife 86.
Neighbors tell ABC Action News there weren't any signs of trouble in the home, but one mentioned the husband had recently told him he was concerned he could no longer take care of his wife whose health was worsening.
Will Moore remembers seeing the couple pass by his home every afternoon.
"Riding in their golf cart with their little mixed drink together watching the sun set," he said.
Moore describes them as always smiling and welcoming to other neighbors.
"It's hitting this community, you know," he said, "hard."
