Over 900 pounds of drugs were disposed of today around Pinellas County.
It was part of a semi-annual event called Operation Medicine Cabinet. Police departments in Clearwater, Gulfport, Kenneth City, Largo, Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg and Treasure Island partnered with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. Various drop-off locations were set up to collect unwanted or expired drugs.
The Sheriff’s Office says that 937 pounds of drugs were collected at the event. Here is a breakdown I the collection by department:
Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (Sheriff's Administration Building): 72.5 pounds
Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (North District Station): 15 pounds
Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (St. Pete Beach): 2.5 pounds
Clearwater Police Department: 662 pounds
Largo Police Department: 25 pounds
Pinellas Park Police Department: 38 pounds
Kenneth City Police Department: 40 pounds
Treasure Island Police Department: 33 pounds
Gulfport Police Department: 9 pounds
St. Pete Police Department: 40 pounds
Medications can still be dropped at disposal containers at all police and sheriff’s office substations across Pinellas County.
