CLEARWATER, Fla. — A crossing guard is being treated at the hospital after she was hit by a car, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says.

Susan Creamer, 63, was hit at the intersection of Curlew Road and Countryside Boulevard on Friday afternoon.

Deputies say 61-year-old Robert Reese was turning right onto Curlew Road when he hit Creamer. According to deputies, Creamer fell to the ground after she was hit by the passenger side mirror.

Creamer was taken to St. Joseph's where she remains. Her injuries are not life-threatening, the sheriff's office says.

Authorities say Creamer was wearing her PCSO School Crossing Guard uniform, traffic safety vest, and orange uniform hat at the time. She was in the crosswalk placing traffic cones along the curb ahead of dismissal.

Reese was not injured.
