4 people taken to hospital after serious crash in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Four people were injured after a two-vehicle crash in Clearwater Sunday afternoon.

Clearwater police and Clearwater Fire and Rescue are on the scene of a crash with serious injuries on Court Street east of Lincoln Avenue.

The crash occurred when a Honda Civic that was driving westbound on Court Street collided with a Mazda SUV that was eastbound and making a U-turn.

Two people were in each of the vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters. One of the vehicles flipped over as a result of the crash.

All four people were taken to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg. Their injuries are not life threatening.

Police say speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

At this time, both directions are shut down at this time. They will be remained closed as the investigation continues.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.
