At 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, the Florida Department of Transportation's contractor will close lanes on State Road 54 at U.S. 41 to prepare for a full road closure of the street to replace its railroads.
SR 54 will close at 10 p.m., weather permitting. The closure is necessary so CSX can replace the crossing and the tracks. The road will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, July 25.
Access to local businesses will be maintained, but drivers will not be able to cross the tracks.
U.S 41 will remain open while the work is being done.
Vehicles will be detoured around the work zone using U.S. 41, Dale Mabry, Lutz Lake Feron Road, Gunn Highway on SR 54.
