The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to parents concerning a growing trend involving prepubescent children who are being solicited to perform sexual acts through social media.
Their Cyber Investigations Unit says over the last few months, prepubescent children have been requested by child predators to perform sex acts using phone apps like Liveme, Skype, and Instagram.
Unfortunately, a common occurrence in all these cases is that the juvenile victims' phone habits were not monitored by parents, according to PCSO.
Additionally, investigators discovered some of the perpetrators lived overseas, which restricted any actions the Cyber Unit would've been able to take.
The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is encouraging all adults to closely watch children's and teens' usage of the internet and cell phone.
