PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Pasco County leaders and the school district are working together to help students and families in need. This is part of the county's  "two new soles" campaign.

They're asking people from all over the Bay area to donate new socks and shoes.

"It's extremely important," Mike Fasano, county tax collector said. "Not every child comes from a family that can afford new shoes during the years."

The county started this three years ago. Fasano said they've been able to help thousands of students over the years, and they're hoping to help even more this year.

According to the Pasco County Homeless Coalition, Pasco has one of the highest homeless populations in the state. They say there are about 2,500 homeless people in the county, so campaigns like this one are very important.

"There's no question that parents and the students are very appreciative," said Fasano.

The county is accepting donations at all of its' five offices around the county. There's a box in each of the lobbies. The county is accepting donations until October 10.
