NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla — Wind and rain from a storm in July took nearly everything from a New Port Richey family. But a local business decided to get to work renovating the home for free. From drywall covered couches to smooth new walls, “This is exactly what our company stands for,” said Anthony Pesce, the Vice President of Quality Ceiling Refinishing. Kindness and taking care of your neighbors is something Pesce says his father taught him. “Our company has been in this area since 1979. My dad is actually the one who started it and my dad always told me to help as many people as you can,” he said. Pesce and his crew jumped in to fix the place up for free as soon as they saw our story and what happened at the Mekhail home in July. “All of the ceiling was completely down, it was on the ground, insulation was down, the whole 9 yards,” he said. And with mold taking over most of the ceiling and drywall had to be replaced. “Honestly more than likely I would have probably given this house up,” said homeowner Mena Mekhail. After all, it’s the place Mena and his wife were preparing to bring their unborn child home from the hospital to next January. “It’s a work in progress and it’s the start of a dream come true,” he said And the end to an emotional ride the Makhail’s weren’t expecting to take. “I was embarrassed to cry in front of Anthony,” he said, laughing. “I let him walk away first and then I started crying. She cried right away. She couldn’t help herself.” “They cried, they definitely cried,” Pesce said. The work is set to be finished soon and all that’s left to do is paint.
