Portion of Suncoast Parkway re-opens after being closed due to brush fire in Starkey Park

Update at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday

The Suncoast Parkway is back open in Pasco County between SR 52 and SR 54 but deputies are monitoring the road as smoky conditions persist in the area.

Update at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday

The area has received an inch of rain and the fire is now 80 percent contained.

Brush fire is now 20-25 acres and 30 percent contained according to Florida Forest Service.

Brush fire in Starkey Park has closed a portion of the Suncoast Parkway in Pasco County.  Pasco County Sheriff is reporting that the Suncoast Parkway is closed between SR 52 and SR 54 due to the fire.

Florida Forest service says that they brush fire is about 10 acres.

The Suncoast Bike Trail is also closed at SR 52 and 54.
