New rainfall raises new flood worries in Pasco

Posted

Residents who were already devastated by "Hermine" in Pasco County were dealt another blow on Saturday.  Several inches of rain fell to the ground on Saturday morning, causing new flooding concerns.

Ann Wright lives in the Suncoast Gateway Mobile Home Park.  She said the extra rain caused her to evacuate.

"It was going into my car and it was getting ready to go into my house," said Wright.

County leaders said about a dozen people in the mobile home park decided to evacuate.  Many of the evacuees were taken by boat.    County leaders said they were prepared for this storm scenario.

"We are looking at this as not just being a Thursday and Friday event, but a Saturday and Sunday, so we are ready for it," said Emergency Manager Kevin Guthrie.

Hundreds of people are still without power in Pasco and Hernando Counties.  Residents said they are tired of being in the dark.

"It's frustrating, especially when you feel trapped and there's no power," said Anna Sitkiewicz.
