A Wesley Chapel man was arrested after blowing up his mailbox because "God told him to do it."
Shivanand Jalim, 32, is charged with discharging an explosive device. Police say he made an explosive device and set it off in the mailbox.
The incident happened at around 10:34 a.m. on Monday at 31340 Wrencrest Dr. The device caused the mailbox to explode and fall apart, and the blast could be heard four homes away. Investigators say a neighbor had to put out the flames.
Jalim said he made the device with products from inside his home, and said "God" told him to do it.
