PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says a possible kidnapping reported by a 10-year-old girl in Moon Lake was false.

The girl admitted that she lied about it and made it up after being dared by a friend to do it. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says due to her age, she will not be charged for filing a false police report.

A composite sketch of a possible kidnapping suspect was released by deputies after they issued a safety alert for citizens in the Moon Lake area on Tuesday.

According to deputies, around 5 p.m. Monday, the 10-year-old girl reported a man in a tan, four-door vehicle with no license plate, pulled up to her at the intersection of Banbury Avenue and Cardy Street. Detectives determined Friday that the report was false.

The girl told deputies that the man told the young girl to get in the vehicle, that he was friends with her mother and was going to take her to get candy and ice cream.

The girl described the male as an African-American male, medium skin tone, in his 20's with black hair, brown eyes, cornrows pulled back into a "ball,” and facial hair "stubble.” The girl says he was wearing a red tank top, black shorts, gold chains, and had a tattoo on his upper right arm depicting a naked woman.
