NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office and Pasco Fire Rescue are investigating the drowning of a toddler in a New Port Richey pond on Thursday afternoon.
Deputies say they responded to the call at approximately 12:31 p.m.

An adult caretaker was watching the 19-month-old child at the home on Crestknoll Drive when it appears the child wandered off and was pulled from the pond. Deputies say it appears to be accidental.
The investigation is active.
The child was taken to a local hospital where he or she passed away on Friday.
