PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- A young boy was airlifted to a hospital after being hit by a car in Pasco County on Wednesday.
The Pasco County Fire Rescue responded to a pedestrian hit in the 9000 block of Mark Twain Lane in Port Richey.
Florida Highway Patrol said a 37-year-old driver was traveling southbound on Mark Twain Lane approaching Blackstone Drive when a two-year-old boy darted across the street and into the path of the car.
Troopers said the driver did not see the child because of trash cans blocking his view.
The 2-year-old boy remains in a hospital with critical injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
