A 14-year-old in Pasco County is being charged as an adult for a man's murder. Detectives say Alexander Perez beat and robbed 81-year-old Robert Walker in September. Walker eventually died from his injuries.
"A person died, just because he's fourteen doesn't make it any easier," said Det. David Dacey.
Detectives said Perez lived near Walker. They believe he robbed the elderly man once before.
Several neighbors agree with the decision to charge Perez as an adult.
"That's what needs to be done get the crime off the streets do what we have to do for the young kids to help the kids, show them not to do things like this," said Stephanie Molina.
Perez is currently in the juvenile area of the Pasco County Jail. Detectives said they are investigating the possibility of another person being involved in Walker's death, but no charges have been filed against that person.
