A man was arrested for a solicitation scam in Largo after selling magazine subscriptions claiming to they would help him fund a school sanctioned trip to London.
According to Largo police, Carlos Deltoro, 20, told residents they could donate the magazine subscription to All Children's Hospital in St. Pete.
One resident said they provided him with a written check, and several residents later said they also provided similar checks in interviews.
Deltoro was originally arrested for misdemeanor solicitation without a permit, but after a check was found in his possession that supported resident claims, he was also charged with felony scheme to defraud.
All Children's Hospital administrative staff indicated it is an old scam, as they do not request door to door sales for magazines.
