Two teenagers from North Carolina struck by lightning near Sand Key in Clearwater

Police in Clearwater reported Tuesday afternoon that two young men from North Carolina were apparently struck by lightning near Sand Key.

Cameron Poimboeuf, 15, was in serious condition per the most recent update. The second victim, Jansen Tabor, 18, is reportedly in good condition as of early Wednesday morning.

Crews responded to Lighthouse Towers Condos and found the two victims near there. Clearwater Public Safety tweeted that both victims were "on the sand" around 4:30 p.m. when the lightning strike occurred.

Tabor told officials they were walking on the beach when a storm rolled in, and "next thing" he knew, he woke up on the sand.
