A Clearwater company, wanting to make a difference for the people displaced by Hurricane Harvey, are doing just that.
An employee with Consumer Energy Solutions, Lynn Posyton, had the idea to help with more than just monetary donations. For the past week, she has been collecting money and goods to send to Houston. Posyton knew many of the big relief organizations were not taking goods at this time, so she and her crew decided they would get the goods to Houston themselves.
"It's really interesting that good hearts connect,” said Posyton. “And I believe that in these times of people talking about diversity and division and hate...I just don't believe it."
They loaded up a truck donated by Nelson Construction in Clearwater full of items donated by the community.
One of the volunteers got on the road Friday, making the 18-hour trip to friends already on the ground in Houston who will show him where the supplies are needed the most.
Posyton said this is all the least she can do for people who currently can’t help themselves.
