It sounds like something out of Dr. Seuss: the Thingamabrary. It is not some wacky gadget but a new free-rental program at Clearwater Public Libraries that will save people a lot of money on tools.
The library system is offering free rentals for any tools including Ryobi power drills (which can cost more than $100 at a hardware store), bike locks, home radon and electricity tests, microscopes, boards games and even ukuleles.
Anyone with a Pinellas County Library card can rent items from one of the five Clearwater locations. Items can be rented for a full week.
