Clearwater police arrested a 26-year-old maintenance man at Brookdale, an assisted living, Alzheimer's and dementia center. Police say Kadeem Dacosta stole two credit cards out of an 86-year-old woman's purse.

According to police reports, he used the cards at multiple places in Pinellas County, but many of the transactions took place at the Walmart in Largo. He is accused of using the cards at least 20 total times.

Brookdale provided the following statement:

"The safety and wellbeing of our residents are our highest priorities and we do not tolerate any improper conduct by our associates. We are working closely with the local police and the appropriate state agencies on an investigation of potential credit card theft from residents of this community. Unfortunately, the investigation points to the involvement of a former associate. We take reasonable precautions in preventing incidents like this, including associate training and pre-employment background screenings. All additional inquiries should be directed to the police."
