TAMPA, Fla. — The American Red Cross needs volunteers to install smoke alarms for people in need.

Thirty thousand volunteers are needed across the country for the organization's Sound the Alarm event. The event is happening in all 50 states.

Volunteers are need to partner with local fire departments to install 100,000 alarms and educate families and fire prevention.
