TAMPA, Fla. — When a Tampa Bay area childcare service found out graduations were canceled, the owners said they knew they had to do something special for the local babysitters on their team.

In 48 hours, Doublemint Sitting set up a photographer, made corsages, created invitations, created a program, drafted a poem, wrote a commencement speech and found someone to sing the national anthem.

The graduation was invite-only for immediate family of the graduates. It took place Sunday evening at Fred Ball Park in South Tampa.

Social distancing measures were in place, and safety precautions were taken, according to Synthia Fairman and Gabriela Rosello, co-owners of Doublemint Sitting.

Masks, gloves and hand sanitizers were all provided to all attendees and participants, Fairman said.

"We wanted to make sure our senior sitters had a graduation they would remember forever," Fairman said. "I think it’s safe to say they will."
