Shoppers report short lines during Black Friday

Retailers offer deals to compete with online deals

Some Tampa Bay area retailers reported seeing smaller Black Friday crowds than in years past.

Shoppers at the Ellenton Premium outlets said the sales were good and the lines were small.

"No lines and people aren’t as in a hurry so we did this more leisurely,” said shopper Heather Jarrard.

Jarrard said she hasn’t missed a Black Friday in more than fifteen years.

“I got all my doorbusters and went to different stores and barely had to wait,” said Jarrard.

She believes more people are online shopping instead of fighting the crowds.

Zulema Vega is the spokesperson for Ellenton Premium Outlets. She said retailers are offering steeper discounts than ever before. Many stores are extending the deals through the weekend.
