Plant City police search for shooting suspect after dispute leaves victim seriously injured

The victim was transported in serious condition

PLANT CITY, Fla. - Hillsborough County Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that took place in Plant City. 

The Plant City Police Department Communications received a radio transmission prior to the shooting that shots were heard in the area of 202 W. Baker Street. 

Officers say Kory Christopher Nelms, a 33-year-old Plant City resident, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Nelms was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. His current condition is unknown.

Police say they are currently gathering intelligence on the identity of the shooter.

The police believe Nelms and shooting suspected were acquainted and Nelms was targeted by the suspect because of an unknown dispute. At this time, police say there is no information available that would indicate there is a threat to the community.
