They said the vehicle was traveling on US 41 approaching East 120th Avenue. The pedestrian, 40-year-old Chanda Renee Gant, was walking across US 41 and entered the path of the vehicle.

As a result, the vehicle struck Gant and then fled the scene.

Gant was transported to the hospital for her injuries, but she later died.

Gant's family is looking for answers and is asking for the person responsible to come forward. She said she was a good loving person.

"We just want to know if there’s any witnesses out there if they could just please come forward because what happened to my niece shouldn’t happen, whoever hit her just left her there and we want them to come forward, just give yourself up. That’s all," said Kathleen Gant

FHP troopers are currently searching for a white 2003-09 Chevy Trailblazer suspect vehicle.

Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact FHP at (813) 558-1800.
