TAMPA, Fla. — Local pest control companies are seeing termite swarms earlier than normal throughout Tampa Bay.
Truly Nolen says the mix of temperatures and rain can make this happen.
The company has responded to swarms from Lakeland to Palm Harbor so far this year.
Experts say there's one thing you can do to try to keep them from your house.
Nelson Gonzalez, Truly Nolen Branch Manager says to "eliminate some of the excess mulch that way you're not piling up the mulch, especially on a wood frame home. That way you're not giving them access to your house because all they need is 1/64 of an inch to get in."
The company also advises you to make sure all the water is diverted away from your foundation.
