Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a taxi cab carrying an elderly man in the Univeristy area of Tampa.
It happened at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, when a 2015 Toyota Sienna van being used as a taxi was hit by a hit-and-run vehicle on E. Fletcher Ave. at N. 19th St.
The taxi was transporting a 91-year-old wheelchair-bound passenger at the time of the accident.
Dontavious Johnson lives near the scene.
"The taxi cab was all messed up and the engine was pushed back," said Johnson.
Both the taxi driver and passenger were transported to AdventHealth. They were both conscious and alert at the scene of the crash.
A witness said the hit-and-run driver was driving a blue 2019 Nissan Rogue.
