Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Fire Medic arrested for domestic battery by strangulation

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County detectives arrested a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Fire Medic on Wednesday for domestic battery by strangulation.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, detectives responded to a report of a domestic violence incident that happened a few days ago. They learned that between December 26 and December 27, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Fire Medic Daniel Reed, 38, and the victim, his live-in girlfriend, engaged in multiple verbal altercations that turned physical.

Investigators say Reed struck the victim several times and choked her on two separate occasions, causing her to lose consciousness for an unknown amount of time.

Reed was arrested and charged with battery-domestic violence and domestic battery by strangulation (felony).

This is Reed's third arrest for domestic violence, according to HCSO, he was arrested on similar charges in 2012 and 2014.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue tells ABC Action News that Reed has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the County conducts a review to determine the appropriate action.
