CARROLLWOOD, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man they say robbed and shot at a woman feeding cats in the Carrollwood area.

The woman, in her 70s, told authorities she was standing outside of her home feeding cats when the man approached her and demanded money. She gave him the small amount of cash she had and the man began to walk away.

Deputies say for unknown reasons the woman followed the man. He turned around and pointed a gun at her, telling her to go away. The woman slapped the gun out of his hand and it fired, hitting her in the leg. The man then ran away on foot.

The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a young-looking, tall, thin black male. Authorities used K-9 and aviation units to search for the suspect, but they were unable to locate him.

Anyone with information in reference to this incident is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
