A high school student was arrested Thursday after police say he attempted to sexually assault a woman at her workplace.

17-year-old Alfonso Howard has been charged with kidnapping, attempted sexual battery and grand theft. The Armwood High School student is being charged as an adult.

Tampa Police say that on October 8, Howard walked into the West Wing Boutique Hotel with his pants down and his hand on his genitals. He then walked up to a hotel clerk, grabbed her by the waist and attempted to force her into a room.

Police say that the clerk was able to run away and Howard chased her down the hallway. The victim began to yell for help and knock on doors. Another employee heard the screaming and opened his hotel door, according to TPD.

At that time, police say that Howard ran back to the front of the hotel and stole an iPad from the desk.

Police say that the female victim then chased Howard and was able to recover the iPad.

Howard was arrested and charged with kidnapping, attempted sexual battery and grand theft. He is being held in the Hillsborough County jail without bond.
