Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has charged two juvenile female suspects who were seen in a golf cart stealing packages from the front porch of a Riverview home.

The teens were charged with Petit Theft and have been entered into the Juvenile Arrest Avoidance Program based upon no prior criminal history.

The incident happened on Dec. 19 at 6:15 p.m. in the 10000 block of Palmetto Pine St. in Riverview.

Deputies say a dark blue golf cart with a white roof with two females inside pulled up to the home, where the passenger got out of the cart and took the following packages:

  • FedEx package with an Apple TV streaming router ($140)
  • USPS package with a t-shirt ($9.88)
  • USPS package with hand balm ($12.77)

People in the neighborhood said they have noticed similar thefts for a few weeks.

“People are missing packages and some people are like basically crying because they have pretty expensive things that they thought would be safe in their doorway and it’s…it’s…. not," Diana Sanguino said.

Neighbors have added cameras, warned each other about issues in the neighborhood on Facebook, and told ABC Action News they are watching out for each other.

"We're just helping each other out, getting packages from each other's doors...if we need to (and) if we're around because we know that this is a constant situation," Sanguino said.

If you are having a package delivered, deputies said you should have it send neighbor's house or a business or pick it up at a carrier.

"With the holiday's coming, seems that's the really bad trend lately," Martin Struk said.
