VALRICO, Fla. — A woman is hospitalized after a man opened fire at her before turning the gun to himself in Valrico Monday.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a shooting in the 2500 block of Siena Way in Valrico. Upon arrival, deputies found a woman with gunshot wounds and an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound.
Deputies said the man shot himself to death shortly after shooting the woman. The attempted-murder-turned-suicide is believed to be domestic related, deputies said.
"Domestic violence is really a serious situation that occurs in a lot of homes," said HCSO Col. James Bradford. "It knows no boundaries as to where people live, the demographic."
Officials have not released the deceased shooting suspect's identity.
