Hillsborough County deputies are investigating after a speeding teen drove an SUV into the back of a home in Riverview early Friday morning.

The incident took place in the 11900 block of Whispercreek Drive where a Nissan Rogue ran through a fence and into the back of the home.

"It shook the whole house when it hit it," said Brian Sexton, who was inside at the time sleeping upstairs," it was a loud bang."

Mary Crowley was also upstairs at the time and at first they thought someone had broken in, until they heard someone knocking on the front door.

Sexton says the driver had managed to get out of the SUV and wasn't seriously hurt.

"She was very upset," he said, "but kept apologizing and was upset, but happy that everyone was okay."

According to deputies, the preliminary information indicates that the 17-year-old driver was speeding and lost control of her vehicle. She ran through a stop sign, drove through a fence, into the back porch area of the house, and through the sliding glass doors, coming to a stop partially in the living room.

No one inside the home was injured and the driver has only minor injuries.

A Hillsborough Co.code enforcement officer says the living room area where the crash occurred isn't considered safe until the damage is fixed.
