TAMPA, Fla. — Over the past year, Tampa has certainly become a city of champions and there are two brothers from Australia who moved here hoping to continue that trend.

They are part of Monster Energy AMA Supercross.

Hunter Lawrence, 21, and his brother Jett, 17, moved all the way to Tampa from Australia to chase down their racing dreams.

“And we honestly love it here, it’s so nice, the people here, the city, Tampa is awesome,” said Hunter.

The brothers are following in the footsteps of fellow Aussie Chad Reed, who moved to Tampa 20 years earlier.

“So as a kid in Australia we looked up to Chad Reed, one of the biggest most successful motocross riders in Australia,” said Jett.

“It was kind of cool the opportunity came up that we were able to train at his farm,” said Hunter.

Jett did his best Reed impersonation, winning a 250-class event this past weekend, while Hunter goes for the checkered flag on his own bike in Orlando this Saturday at Camping World Stadium at 7 p.m.

“I think it’s fair to say kind of in a way we are ambassadors to the sport in Australia because the Aussies just want someone to root for overseas,” said Hunter.

And the more they win, the more people back on the Sunshine Coast are going to know about Tampa Bay.

“We golf all the time, I have my own golf net in my house that's how dedicated I am to golf,” said Jett.

“I think he’s an idiot and he thinks the same with me and we’re just having fun, living in the moment,” said Hunter.

These mates say it really does feel like home.

“It's just so awesome and I wish the plane flight wasn’t so long because we’d be getting so many of my friends over, we love it, it’s sick,” said Hunter.

“I might just have to retire here,” said Jett.
