TAMPA, Fla. -- This local veteran fought for our freedom by serving tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. But now, this Air Force veteeran is serving someone else: his brother.

Vincent Smith is a primary caretaker for his younger brother, who suffers from a rare form of cancer. Vincent's brother also needs a wheelchair to get around.

As a way to show appreciation, the community gave the brothers a gift they'll never forget: a new home.

Thanks to Habitat for Humanity's "Veteran Build" home program, the house builders and sponsors, the new home was built in just six weeks. On Thursday, the brothers were presented with keys to the new home.

"This makes us have a better life and it makes him have life feel more regular, more normal for him because he wasn't always like this," Smith said.
