Dozens of residents in the Fishhawk area came to a "one stop shop” hurricane relief event organized by Hillsborough County.

Several groups including the Red Cross offered residents free food, water, and supplies. Residents are also eligible to sign up for relief from Hillsborough County and FEMA.

Director of Affordable Housing, Cheryl Howell, said it was a challenge to get people to show up.

"Many of the people are hesitate to accept government services, they are hard working people, people who worked their entire life,” said Howell.

Kathleen Autry brought her family to the event she said they’ve been struggling since Irma.

“We had to use our extra money for supplies, so it’s nice we are able to get some of the basics,” said Autry.
