A fire early Tuesday morning damages eight condominiums in Brandon.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue received a call around 2:10 a.m. of a fire burning in the 500 block of Golden Raintree Place inside The Hamptons Condominium Complex.
When firefighters arrived on scene they found flames and heavy smoke ripping through the roof of the two-story condo building.
Crews helped evacuate the building and then began attacking the fire.
"We had to get out. We had to get out through the back," said Jennifer Smith, a resident of one of the condos damaged in the fire. "It was scary. I wouldn't wish that on anyone."
It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.
Officials report no injuries from the fire. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
There is no information on the value of the property lost in the fire or if the affected residents have a place to stay.
