A Homosassa man is accused of opening fire in his neighborhood after threatening to shoot a neighbor, their car and their house, Citrus County deputies say.
Robert Mozzicato, 29, 11361 South Lily Pad Point, is now charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, using a firearm under the influence of alcohol, knowingly discharging a firearm in a public place/roadway, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and failure to register as a felon within 48 hours of conviction.
According to deputies, they responded to a shots fired call Monday in the 7400 block of West Clearbrook Lane.
They found three people sitting on a porch talking, one of those people was Mozzicato, deputies say.
Mozzicato claimed he heard arguing at his neighbor's house and ran over to find out what was going on when he reportedly heard a gunshot, an affidavit states.
Deputies described Mozzicato as being visibly intoxicated, having slurred speech and his breath smelling of alcohol.
A woman reportedly told deputies she began arguing with her roommate and was subsequently locked out of their house when she set her car alarm off. The woman claims Mozzicato ran over and began yelling at her because "he was trying to sleep," an affidavit states.
According to the arrest affidavit, Mozzicato then threatened to shoot her roommate if he did not come out of the house and fight.
Deputies say that is when Mozzicato ran back to his house, grabbed a shotgun and then threated to shoot the woman, her car and her house.
Mozzicato then fired at least one round in the street, deputies say.
Two witnesses reportedly heard the gunshot.
According to one of those witnesses, when they confronted Mozzicato, he aimed the shotgun at them and threatened to pull the trigger.
Deputies say they found two shotgun shell casings in the roadway.
Mozzicato was arrested and is being held on $16,500 bond.
