CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — Friday at about 3 p.m., Citrus County Sheriff's Office Warrants Unit received a call from Pasco County Sheriff's Office about a wanted attempted homicide suspect traveling into Citrus County on US Hwy. 19.

Citrus County deputies staged near the possible route of travel for the suspected vehicle.

Deputies identified the vehicle and relayed its location to dispatch.

As the suspect vehicle made its way into Homosassa, just north of the McDonald's on Suncoast Blvd., patrol units devised a plan to intercept the car.

After entering heavy traffic along a construction area, patrol units conducted a traffic stop.

Deputies made contact with the female driver and female passenger, and told them about the reason for the traffic stop.

Permission was granted to search the vehicle, and deputies found the suspect hiding in the trunk.

"If you think you can elude authorities by coming into Citrus County, you are sadly mistaken. Our deputies work seamlessly with our counter parts from other counties. What happened today was a perfect example of teamwork with our Sheriff's Office and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. From the moment we were notified of this homicide suspect entering our county, to the final moment of our deputies placing this individual under arrest, public safety was our priority."
Citrus Co. Sheriff Prendergast

That suspect, 20-year-old Taylor Jace Contino of Hudson, was arrested on the original charge of homicide and booked into Citrus County Jail.
